What is a CSC scholarship?

The China Scholarship Council, an initiative of the Chinese Ministry of Education offers financial aid to international and Chinese students studying in China. Sponsored by the Chinese government, this award only covers programs with no expensive tuition fees.

It was established to strengthen China’s relations, cultural exchange, and political cooperation with other countries. While these CSC scholarships can be partially or fully funded, they at least cover a portion of students’ basic needs.

Before applying, find the most suitable of 279 CSC partner universities or institutions. It is important to note that not all Chinese universities accept scholarship students.

Decide on the type of CSC scholarship you prefer

CSC program category Type A

These are non-university scholarships. Applications for this will go through the Chinese embassy in any country and be reviewed by the corresponding institution. Students have the right to apply for two universities if they go through the Chinese embassy.

CSC program category Type B

This scholarship is for students pursuing Chinese University programs. For this type, applications will be sent directly to the universities. Applicants can choose three universities.

CSC program category Type C

This scholarship covers only students already studying in Chinese universities. First-year students are not eligible for this program.

Register online

  • Notarized highest degree certificate
  • Academic transcripts

Complete the physical examination record for foreigners

This is a medical form all foreign applicants must complete. For accuracy, you must attach medical reports or certificates. This form must also include chest X-rays and blood tests. Finally, results must be approved by a doctor.

Make two copies of your complete application form. Submit the online application through the CSC website. Additionally, email another copy to the university or the Chinese embassy.
